The Top UK Talents of 2019

We are already heading towards the end of the third month of the year and boy does time fly!

And it is now time to see who are the hottest artists that are sweeping up the charts in the United Kingdom.

Ready to find out?

The first name to appear is Scottish singer-songwriter Lewis Capaldi, hailing from Bathgate. “Someone You Loved” s currently #1 in the UK singles chart and has so far been in the charts for eleven weeks.

By observing the Top 40 chart there are a number of familiar names such as Calvin Harris, currently at #2 with single “Giant”, Ariana Grande with “Break Up With Your Girlfriend I’m Bored” and “7 Rings” both at #4 and #6 respectively, Sam Smith and his single “Dancing With a Stranger” which is currently at #5, Jonas Brothers and “Sucker” at #7, “Please Me” from Cardi Bat #16 and “Wow” by Post Malone at #22.

American teen Billie Eilish seems to be slowly climbing the charts with her low key emo inspired tracks like “Bury a Friend” at #15. The artist usually collaborates with her brother, Finneas O’Connell, who is an accomplished songwriter in his own right.

Curiously, the UK chart seems to have a mix of different genres which testifies the diversity amongst the British public. Capaldi is very much in the category of Ed Sheeran where acoustics take over and raw and passionate lyrics are sung from within the heart with topics like lost love or a new blooming relationship. EDM is also very much present with Calvin Harris. Pop music is still a big favorite amongst listeners testified by the presence of Ariana Grande, the Jonas Brothers, and Mabel.

Surprisingly, trap, rap and hip hop are not as present as in other charts such as the US, Italian and Macedonian ones, for example. There is a slight presence of rap with singles from Dave, “Disaster” and “Streatham” both currently charting at #8 and #9.

In the vinyl department, old school 1980s synth band New Order are currently on the #1 spot with “Ceremony”. Album wise, Dave has topped the charts with “Psychodrama”, rock band the Foals are in #2 with “Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost – Pt. 1” and Dido closing in #3 with a surprise return after a long hiatus with “Still On My Mind”.

Stay tuned as we keep an eye on the charts to see who else will be the next big thing!
