David Adedeji Adeleke , popularly known as Davido, is a Nigerian-American singer, songwriter, contemporary artist, and a record producer. He is one of the biggest and most influential artist in Africa.
Adeleke studied Business Administration at Oakwood University before dropping out to make beats and record vocal references. Davido rose to fame after releasing "Dami Duro", the second single from his debut studio album Omo Baba Olowo , from which six additional singles—"Back When", "Ekuro", "Overseas", "All of You", "Gbon Gbon", and "Feel Alright"—were taken. In 2012, Davido won the Next Rated award at The Headies. Between 2013 and 2015, he released the hit singles "Gobe", "One of a Kind", "Skelewu", "Aye", "Tchelete ", "Naughty", "Owo Ni Koko", "The Sound" and "The Money".
In January 2016, Davido signed a record deal with Sony Music and a few months later founded the record label Davido Music Worldwide , to which acts Dremo, Mayorkun, Yonda, Peruzzi and the groups first female act Liya are currently signed. In July 2016, Davido signed a record deal with Sony's RCA Records. In October 2016, he released the 5-track EP Son of Mercy, which was supported by the singles "Gbagbe Oshi", "How Long" and "Coolest Kid in Africa". In April 2017, Davido re-negotiated his contract with Sony due to creative control issues and later that year he released five singles including "If" and "Fall". "If" generated worldwide social media activity while "Fall" became the longest-charting Nigerian pop song in Billboard history. Davido released his second studio album A Good Time in November 2019. It was supported by the previously released singles "If", "Fall", "Assurance", "Blow My Mind" and "Risky". Davido was cited as one of the Top 100 most influential Africans by New African magazine in 2019. Davido released his third studio album A Better Time, on 13 November 2020.

Alleged cult membership
Davido has faced accusations of being a member of the Black Axe confraternity . He has been accused of making cult gang gestures in his music and personal videos. On September 5, 2018, Daily Post reported a suspected Black Axe cult member arrested by the Nigerian Police confessed that he was lured into the group with promises that he would meet music star, Davido. On September 15, 2018, in a chat with Vanguard, Davido's country manager, Asa Asika, denied knowledge of Davido being a member of any secret cult groups. On August 10, 2019, Information Nigeria reported on the stir of Davido sharing a video on his insta-story reassuring the Aye Cult Group of his loyalty. Davido could be seen in the video displaying the confraternity's trademark shouting; “Egede, Aye for life”.
Asassination threat on Davido
Kemi Olunloyo, a controversial Investigative journalist, has alleged that someone is trying to assassinate Nigerian singer, Davido while warning him to contact the police immediately. Her claims is coming after the recent incident at Twist Night Club in Accra, Ghana. According to Kemi Olunloyo, the only person who knows the person trying to assassinate the musician is dead. He advised the musician to stay home and call the authorities for protection, reminding him of being a father and so his safety is very important. She Wrote; “Someone is trying to KILL DAVIDO. The only person that can tell us what happened at Twist is already dead.
