Congolese rumba legend Koffi Olomide does not mention a name in his songs for nothing. In order for your name to be dedicated in a “Grand Mopao” verse, certain conditions must be met. You have to be close family or full of money. For promotion, it would cost between 200 and 300 thousand euros (131 million to 197 million FCFA).

The interplanetary artist, who marked several generations, Koffi Olomide, knows how to make money and in the most lawful way. Indeed, beyond concerts, the sale of albums and views recorded on digital platforms, the legend of Congolese rumba takes advantage of his notoriety by making dedications for certain personalities in the different songs, gleaning a good fortune. The latter would pay him between 200 and 300 thousand euros (from 131 to 197 million FCFA).

“Usually, I don't take money for people whose names I mention in my songs, because it's the Oval Office, meaning family, I do it for fun. On the other hand, for people who ask me to cite their names to promote them, they pay and can pay from 200 to 300 thousand euros (between 131 to 197 million FCFA) ”, he declared. But, he also recalled that he has the habit of doing it often, without ordering and without collecting money.

Considered a full-fledged legend of African music, with a career spanning nearly five decades, 64-year-old Koffi Olomide is the first black-African artist to play and fill the legendary Bercy Hall and one of 12 artists. musicians from the continent, the only Congolese, to have been mentioned in the 1001 albums you must listen to before you die. In total, he recorded 28 studio albums including 7 signed with the “Latin Quarter”, one in collaboration with Papa Wemba (died April 24, 2016 in Abidjan following a malaise on stage, editor's note) and 18 live albums for a total of more than 300 songs.

His work earned him 7 Kora Awards including 4 during the 2002 edition thanks to his album “Effrakata”. He launched his own label "Koffi Central" in 2013 and published on 13 October 2015, 13 th apostle, a quadruple album of forty songs he claims to be the last album of his career, before returning later with “ Nyataquance and Legende  ”.
