Singer Manizha Changed The Lyrics Of The Controversial Song For Eurovision

At a press conference, Manizha admitted that she had "somewhat changed" the text of the scandalous contest song Russian Woman ("Russian Woman"). She explained that she wanted with her performance “not to bounce off the wall, but to break it,” reports TASS.

The footage taken at the rehearsal shows that at first the singer appears on stage in a huge dress, made from scraps of fabric from different regions of Russia. Manizha claims that scraps of national costumes were sent to her by women from all over the country. The performer will continue her performance in red overalls, symbolizing the hard work of Russian women.

Together with her, four backing vocalists will appear on the stage, and women of different ages will appear on the background screen - representatives of the peoples of Russia and celebrities: Chulpan Khamatova, Alexandra Bortich and Tatyana Bulanova. Their videos at the end of the issue are summed up in the words Russian Woman.

The Eurovision Song Contest will take place from 18 to 22 May in Rotterdam. Manizha will perform at number three in the first semi-final. The competition in Russia will be broadcasted by Channel One.

The song Manizha passed the national selection for Eurovision, winning the audience vote on Channel One on 8 March. In addition to her, the group Therr Maitz and duet # 2Mashi applied for participation in the music competition.

After the national selection, musicians and politicians began to criticize the composition Russian Woman. Singer and producer Leonid Agutin called the song shameful. The check of the composition was started by the Investigative Committee of Russia after a complaint from the editorial board of the newspaper Veteranskie Vesti. The authors of the statement believe that the song offends the dignity of Russian women, as well as national harmony in the country.
