Taylor Swift, Recording "you All Over Me" Was A Top Secret Task

Taylor Swift has revealed that the recording of the recently released unreleased song "You All Over Me" was a "secret matter" by drummer Eric Slick.

"You All Over Me" with Maren Morris will be included in the reprint of "Fearless" released in 2008. "Fearless" is one of six albums that Taylor Swift will re-record following the sale of the master sound source.

Eric Slick, who is playing the drums on "You All Over Me," talks about the details of the production in a new interview with Rolling Stone magazine.

Eric Slick was contacted in February this year by Philadelphia-based sound engineer John Lowe about "playing a few songs" on a top-secret remote recording.

"I was sent a private password-protected disc image, and the songs were also password-protected," he recalls. "I've never participated in such a top secret thing in my life."

"The song had vocals, but the vocals were muffled, so I didn't know what I was playing," he continues. "It was a very low pitch and I couldn't recognize it. To be honest, it sounded like Vienna."

Eric Slick said he wanted an "old school Nashville" atmosphere, as directed by The National's Aaron Dessner before the session.

"I had to make an emotional connection with a song I didn't know," said Eric Slick. "A drummer who writes a song focuses on the vocals, their rhythm, and intonation, and plays along with them. So I had to imagine what the vocal sounds like. What kind of song it is. I was using my instinctive instincts about the song. It was like, "OK, it's a crash here. It's normal to enter."

Eric Slick told Rolling Stone magazine that he had signed a non-disclosure agreement with Taylor Swift about his participation in other songs, saying "don't say anything."

A re-recorded version of Fearless will be released on April 9th.
