American singer Cher has defended Britney Spears, the Independent reports, citing the Press Association. She is convinced that the girl's father needs to give up custody.

"I think dad should leave her alone and let her live her own life," Cher said.

James Spears became the legal guardian of his daughter in 2008 after a series of scandals provoked by the singer: she was very upset with a divorce from Kevin Federline, used drugs, and shaved her head baldly. Since then, he has overseen the singer's finances and career. Britney tried to free herself from her father's supervision and asked to appoint another guardian.

Cher is not the first to support the pop hit singer "oops! ... i did it again". Earlier, Miley Cyrus, Paris Hilton and Chloe Grace Moretz spoke out in her defense. There is also a #FreeBritney movement on Instagram, its activists are fans of the singer, they do not believe in her incapacity and believe that their idol is a victim of the greed of producers and their own father.
