Enrique Iglesias, the renowned Spanish singer, recently announced his retirement from the stage. However, he won't be leaving empty-handed. Iglesias has struck a deal with New York-based company Influence Media Partners, backed by Warner Music Group and Blackrock Inc, to sell his catalog of recorded songs to date. Additionally, he has also sold his image rights for an undisclosed amount, estimated to be in the hundreds of millions of dollars.

Although the exact figure remains unknown, according to Bloomberg, it would be a nine-figure amount, meaning over a hundred million dollars (at least 93 million euros).

The New York firm holds rights to other artists such as singer and songwriter Julia Michaels, rappers Logic and Future, Dua Lipa with her hit 'Break My Heart,' and American country singer Blake Shelton. Iglesias' manager, Fernando Giaccardi, stated in an interview with Bloomberg that the company had secured a bargain. 'We could have gotten more money if we had gone to more places, but we didn't because it wasn't about that. It was about the relationship, how we could help each other and position that music,' said the representative. The artist himself is said to have been very involved in the negotiation process, as reported by his representative.

Enrique Iglesias is not the only artist who has decided to sell their music catalogs. Bob Dylan, Shakira, Sting, Justin Bieber, and Bruce Springsteen have also made deals with their rights. The singer who reportedly made the most from the sale of their catalog is Springsteen, who sold his to Sony Music two years ago for 500 million euros. Bob Dylan sold his to Universal for around 300 million, while Sting sold his for around 250 million. In the case of singers like Shakira, the amount agreed upon for the sale remains unknown.

While Enrique Iglesias is retiring from actively composing and recording songs, his career is not over. He can still release individual songs and collaborations, as well as continue touring, which would increase the value of his catalog. With nearly 30 years in the industry and after a period of being a global number one thanks to his summer hits like 'Bailando,' the son of Julio Iglesias and Isabel Preysler is back on tour. Since October, he has embarked on a tour with Ricky Martin and Pitbull, taking them to the United States and Canada.
