Grammy Award-winning artist Damini Ogulu, better known as Burna Boy, received 10 million naira (14.6 million FCFA), alongside other musicians who performed at a evening of return to Port Harcourt organized in his honor by the governor of the State of Rivers, Nyesom Wike, on the night of Saturday to Sunday. Burna Boy also received other gifts.

The Nigerian Afrobeat star of the winner at the 63 th edition of the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, for the category of "Best World Music Album", Burna Boy, is from Rivers, even though he lived most of his life in Lagos State, southwestern Nigeria, where Yoruba is spoken. Upon his return to Port Harcourt, the artist received honors from Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike on the night of Saturday to Sunday. Burna Boy was also given land to build a house.

During the closing moments of an event where Burna Boy, the Governor and most of the other attendees were not wearing face masks in a world stricken with Covid-19, Nyesom Wike said, “Those of you who are come to play, everything you have agreed with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism is none of my business ”.

“Everyone who has come today and the people from the Niger Delta who have come to play tonight to show their talent, I am very proud of you. You will all go home with 10 million naira (14.6 million FCFA) each, ”he added to the applause of the audience.

Remember that during the 63 rd annual Grammy Awards which took place on Sunday March 14, 2021, two Nigerians, Burna Boy and Wizkid in particular, won some of the coveted trophies. Burna Boy won the Grammy Award for "Best World Music Album" with her 2020 project "Twice as Tall", while Wizkid's victory came thanks to her collaboration in Beyonce's "Brown Skin Girl", which won the “Best video award”.
