After winning his first Grammy Awards in the “world music” category, a few weeks ago, in Los Angeles, United States, Burna Boy is still in the spotlight. Nigerian musician Afrobeat is making history once again, being the very first artist to reach 100 million streams on Boomplay, Africa's # 1 music streaming platform.

It has been almost 10 years since the self-acclaimed "African Giant" Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu aka "Burna Boy" entered the music scene and since then has enjoyed consecutive successes. Winner of the Grammy Awards in the “world music” category last March, in Los Angeles, also became the very first artist to reach 100 million streams on Boomplay, the number one music distribution platform in Africa.

Returning to Nigeria after his university studies in the United Kingdom, Burna Boy entered the musical world. In 2013, he released his first studio album, “Life”, an acronym for “ Leaving an Impact For Eternity ” under the Aristokrat record. The 20-track album boasts of hit songs like, "Tonight", "Run My Race", "Abeg Abeg", "Yawa Dey" and "Like to Party", which brought it to stardom.

Following the success of his debut album, Burna Boy dropped his second and third musical projects, “Redemption” in 2015 and out in 2018, which included hit songs like “Ye”, “Sekkle Down”, “Heavens gate ”and“ Devil in California ”.

Prior to the arrival of “The African Giant” and “Twice as Tall '”, both of which garnered back-to-back Grammy nominations in the Best Album in the World category, “African Giant” was released in 2019. It won her over. earned her first Grammy nomination and honorable mention from former US President Barack Obama, who greeted it as one of his favorite songs in 2019.

“African Giant” currently holds a record 29 million streams on Boomplay. Then the album "Twice as Tall" became an instant hit and recorded 1 million streams within 24 hours of its release on Boomplay. Almost 8 months after its release, her fifth studio album, "Twice as Tall," has amassed over 45 million streams on Boomplay, making it the most-streamed album on Boomplay Music.

Currently, Burna Boy is now the most broadcast artist in Boomplay history, ahead of Fireboy and Olamide.
