Nigerian Afrobeat star Burna Boy finally received his trophy, months after being announced as the winner of the 'Best Album of the Year' category.
The 'Self-proclaimed African Giant' took to social media this Thursday to share the good news with his fans. Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, known professionally as "Burna Boy", has finally received his 2020 Grammy Awards trophy, several months after being announced as the winner of the "World's Best Music Album" category. A very excited Burna Boy took to his Instagram this Thursday, June 10, 2021, to share photos of his plaque along with a video clip of himself and longtime producer Leriq. He wrote: “My parents prayed for great children, not for houses, cars or 'things'. They asked my sisters for stellar degrees; one obtained a master's degree in finance, the other a distinction in engineering. They asked me for a Grammy, and here we are. I am a product of sacrifice! Thank goodness and thank you again to everyone! ". Note that at the Grammy, the album "Twice As Tall" by Burna Boy won the category "Best World Music Album" in front of "Fu Chronicles" by Antibalas, "Agora" by Bebel Gilberto, "Love Letters" by Anoushka Shankar and "Amadjar" from the Malian Tuareg group from Tinariwen. “Twice As Tall” was produced by American music mogul, Sean Combs aka “Puff Diddy” and featured artists such as Chris Martin of Coldplay, Naughty by Nature, Stormzy, Youssou Ndour and Sauti Sol. Hailing Burna Boy's success, leading artists in the entertainment industry have taken to his comments section to congratulate him. Legendary beatmaker Don Jazzy wrote: “Odogwu again oooo congratulations”. In addition, popular disc jockey DJ Spinall praised the talented singer. “Congratulations again my brother,” he wrote. More so, singer Waje wrote: "Congratulations".
