Barbara Pravi Opens Up About Toxic Relationships

"It was my first love story." In early April, Barbara Pravi opened up in an interview with Konbini about her first toxic relationships. With a gold record, a Victoire de la musique award, a platinum single for her song "Voila," and a prize for best artistic performance, Barbara Pravi is undoubtedly successful. However, behind her beautiful smile and infectious joy lies a much darker past that the singer did not hesitate to share. "We were coming back from a party, I had danced with a guy, and he started insulting me because I had danced with him. I didn't understand, it made me laugh. As I was about to go home, he knocked me down, got on top of me, and started hitting me," explained the 29-year-old singer, who was only 17 at the time. In the interview with Konbini, the Serbian-Iranian artist talked about her relationship with love in her youth. Now involved in numerous associations that fight against violence against women, Barbara Pravi also candidly revealed the vicious circle in which she was trapped for many years. During the interview, Barbara Pravi explained that she had fallen into toxic relationships several times. She also added that the only event that helped her distance herself from this relationship was being confronted with death: "I realized that this wasn't love when I took a blow and fell on the corner of the bed, and it could have broken my neck. I thought, 'Ok, you could have died there.'" The French singer, who represented France in the Eurovision Song Contest in May 2021, added that this experience did not make her "strong" or "rebellious" but frightened her, which led her to file a complaint for the first time. The young artist recounted that this was only the beginning of the nightmare. For many years, Barbara Pravi was under the psychological influence of several men in her professional circle. Fortunately, the singer managed to rebuild herself after these terrible experiences, mainly thanks to her work with a psychologist who "helped her a lot." Now, the composer is finally fulfilled and in a stable and healthy relationship with her partner.
