American rapper and producer Timbaland has issued an apology to pop singer Britney Spears and her fans for his earlier suggestion to 'put a muzzle on her'. This comes after Spears released her recent memoir, 'The Woman In Me', in which she claimed that her ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake had cheated on her and pressured her to have an abortion.

During an open discussion, Timbaland made critical remarks about Spears and the influence of social media, stating, 'She's going crazy, you know? You know what? We live in the era of social media, and everyone wants to go viral. I understand that because that's how you make money.' Referring to Spears' book, he added, 'I wanted to call and say, 'JT, you should put a muzzle on her'.'

His comments sparked criticism from Spears' fan base, who accused him of misogyny. Timbaland later apologized on his social media platforms, saying, 'I apologize to all of Britney's fans and even to her herself,' acknowledging that he was in the wrong.

It was previously reported that Justin Timberlake had left the United States and traveled to Mexico with his family following the controversial statements made by his former lover, Britney Spears, about their past relationship and the abortion.
