Shakira Opens Up About Finding Freedom And Joy After Breaking Up With Unfaithful Partner

Colombian singer Shakira has shared her joy after ending things with her ex-partner, former Barcelona defender and Spanish national team player Gerard Pique. In an interview with People, the 47-year-old artist revealed that she felt liberated while working on her new album Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran ("Women Don't Cry Anymore"), her first album in seven years.

"I didn't have time [for music]. Because of my husband. Now I am without a husband. Yes, my husband was dragging me down. Now I am free. Now I can really work," she shared. Shakira admitted that she used to dabble in music here and there, but putting together a whole album was very challenging.

The singer also pointed out that now it's the men's turn to cry, referencing the album's title. Earlier, Shakira confessed that she had put her career on hold for her ex-boyfriend, footballer Gerard Pique, who cheated on her.
